J. Zephyr Martin Assoc. AIA

Architectural Designer

Architectural Designer Zephyr Martin joined CBP in 2019 as an architectural intern. She balanced employment with academic excellence, expanding her architectural skills while earning recognition in the 2023 Metropolis Future 100 ranking of the top 100 design students nationwide, receiving the 2023 AIA Pennsylvania Student Award, and winning the Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce Paradigm Scholarship for Working Women. She graduated from Drexel University with a Bachelor of Architecture.

Zephyr grew up in Maine in a community of builders, makers, and artists; much of the community struggled with safe or healthy places to live, which spurred her passion to design quality affordable housing.

“One thing I appreciate about CBP, and its ethics, is that we approach varied types of projects with the same level of care. Just because a project is affordable does not mean we put in less time or effort.”

A resident of West Philadelphia’s Powelton Village, Zephyr enjoys ceramics, printmaking, and spending time outdoors. Music has influenced much of her life; her grandfather is known for bringing steel drum music to Maine and Zephyr continued the tradition. She has played professionally since age eight and competed globally against other bands. Like architecture, Zephyr believes music – steel drum especially – can positively influence people and foster community.
