Umar Mahmood Assoc. AIA

Architectural Designer

Architectural Designer Umar Mahmood joined CBP in 2022, the year he graduated from Penn and earned recognition in the Metropolis Future 100 ranking of the top 100 design students nationwide. Originally interested in art, he wanted a career that would impact society. Residential design, especially affordable housing, seemed a natural fit for the thoughtful and forward-thinking designer.

“Buildings have an impact on community and society, so architecture is an interesting way to represent my artistic side while having a positive impact.”

Umar holds a Master of Architecture from the University of Pennsylvania and a Bachelor of Science in Architecture from The Ohio State University. The Pakistan native is fluent in Urdu and speaks limited Hindi and Punjabi. He is presently working toward licensure while mentoring other young designers within the firm.

A West Philadelphia resident, Umar enjoys attending architecture lectures at Penn and other schools in the city; exploring technology, especially artificial intelligence (AI) and its impact on visual arts and architecture; and drawing and sketching anatomy, portraits, and building details. He is also an avid photographer, capturing the cityscape around him in Philadelphia or back home in Pakistan.
