“The Philadelphian Owners Association took the opportunity to enhance the building for the long term. The wide-ranging project provides new features for residents and improved functionality for staff, while ensuring the long-term health and structural stability of an important Philadelphia landmark.” – Marc Levinson, General Manager, The Philadelphian
On 29 October, The Philadelphian hosted an open house to debut renovations by CBP Architects. Representatives from CBP Architects joined residents and building management for a gathering that included brief remarks and refreshments in the newly renovated lobby.
Built in 1963 on the Benjamin Franklin Parkway in the Fairmount neighborhood, The Philadelphian consists of three contiguous, 20-story residential towers containing 776 units. The culmination of a long-range strategic plan, the comprehensive architecture project combined significant repairs with renovations that update the building’s major public spaces for the 21st century.
Over the last two years, CBP Architects designed and oversaw upgrades to the Philadelphian’s lobby, porte-cochere, commercial plaza, and back-of-house spaces. The scope combined preservation, restoration, and thoughtful new architecture woven into the classic midcentury complex.
