On Friday, 16 May 2025, CBP Architects hosted a book launch celebration for publication of Cecil Baker’s anthology of life and architecture, “Persuasion of Place.” With an introduction and text by Cheryl Weber, principal photography by Barry Halkin, and editing by Oscar Riera Ojeda, the book contains 35 of Baker’s finest projects, all of which embody the ethos of respecting context while responding to constraints in imaginative ways. Cecil Baker founded our predecessor firm, Cecil Baker & Associates in 1982, later Cecil Baker + Partners, before stepping away from practice in 2023. CBP Architects partners Nancy Bastian, FAIA, NCARB, LEED AP, and Eric Leighton, AIA, NCARB, and several staff members, had the opportunity to work on projects featured in the book, and the lasting impacts of Cecil and his architecture continue to be felt by everyone at the firm.
