CBP Architects Managing Partner Nancy Bastian, FAIA, NCARB, LEED AP, contributed a recent article to Social Innovations Journal (SIJ), a publication dedicated to social innovators and entrepreneurs who work at the cross-section between private sector, government, and not-for-profits. Bastian’s article, “Mission-Driven Affordable Housing,” appears in Volume 34 (2025): Innovations and Models of Care in Health and Human Services: Advancing Care, Systems, and Policy for Complex Needs.
Mission-driven affordable housing has been a mainstay of Nancy’s design efforts and an important part of CBP Architects’ practice. As she writes in the article abstract,
“Social service agencies find that providing services to their clients is sometimes not enough. What is often missing for those they serve is safe, supportive, and affordable housing. Through the Low-Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) program, these organizations are becoming mission-driven affordable housing developers, creating the housing that their clients need to thrive.”
